How Long Do Splatter Balls Take To Grow: What You Need to Know

Interested in splatter balls but don't know where to start? Learn how much time it takes to hydrate your non toxic gel balls to get you shooting.

Splat R Balls

Splatter Balls are small water beads that absorb moisture and are shot out of gel blasters as a form of entertainment for kids and families. They’re an exciting way to have fun, but how quickly do they grow? In this post, we’ll discuss the lifecycle of splatter balls, what happens once you shoot them, what determines their growth rate, how to identify an underdeveloped splatter ball, and creative ways to use them. Let’s get started!

The Lifecycle of Splatter Balls

When you first purchase them, splatter balls will be in their dehydrated state. Once exposed to moisture—whether from humidity or added water—they will begin to absorb it and slowly swell up until they reach their full size.

They can then be shot out of a gel blaster and break apart into hundreds of tiny pieces before evaporating away with no clean up required. This is why they are so popular for use in large-scale battles! Gel Balls are biodegradable so they will naturally break down and disappear over time.

The lifespan of splatter balls depends on the amount of moisture they have been exposed to, as well as the temperature and amount of sunlight they are subjected to. In general, they should last anywhere from a few days to over a month when hydrated, depending on the environment and how frequently they are used. This makes them ideal for short-term use, as well as long-term play if you take the necessary precautions to protect them.

The water bead makes noise on impact so you know you were hit by a Splatrball blaster. It adds fun to your game and makes it more realistic.

What Determines How Long It Takes for Splatter Balls to Grow

The amount of time it takes for a splatter ball to reach its fully-swollen state depends on several factors including the type of water used (distilled, filtered, or tap) as well as the temperature. Generally speaking, colder temperatures will cause splatter balls to take longer to swell while warmer temperatures will speed up the process.

Our test showed the following:

Tap Water:

  • Took the longest time to grow and reach full size with tap water at about 5 hours.

Filtered Water:

  • With filtered clean water they grew bigger than with tap water and took about 4.5 hours.

Distilled Water:

  • Took the quickest time to grow and reach full size at about 4 hours and seemed to be the plumpest of the bunch.

How Long Do Splatter Balls Last

The lifespan of a splat r ball may depend on the environment in which it is stored. Splat r balls can last around 6 months, but if they are kept in an overly humid environment, their shelf life may be shortened. Humidity causes the ball to expand and eventually break down the integrity of the ball.

It's important to keep your splatter balls dry and allow them to breathe as much as possible. Place them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and any potential sources of moisture that could impact their longevity. Most splatter balls can last and stay hydrated for up to 6 months when kept in a cool, dry place.

Splat r ball ammo should function properly if stored in an airtight container for an extended period. So long as they are in a sealed container and don't get them soaked you can store them safely for many months. They are non toxic and only need to be hydrated before they are ready to be shot form water ball guns.

Identifying an Underdeveloped Splatter Ball

Identifying an underdeveloped splatter ball is easy if you know what to look out for. It will typically be significantly smaller than the other splatter balls around it, since they are still at an early stage of development.

If you come across one, it's best to discard it and not use it with your gel blaster. This is because using an underdeveloped splatter ball can cause significant damage to both the blaster and the balls themselves - as they may not be designed to handle the power that a blaster can fire.

It's important to check every splatter ball before loading your blaster whenever possible. If you're able to identify any underdeveloped or damaged balls then your blaster will remain safe from damage during use.

We have personally shot a gel ball that an error occurred with and it gummed up the gel blaster. It was easy to clean up but  it was a lesson to check the ammo before using.

Creative Ways To Use Splatter Balls

Now that we know all about how these amazing little beads work let's talk about some creative ways you can use them! One popular way is using them as decorations by placing them inside clear glass containers such as vases or jars filled with other decorative items like fake flowers or pebbles.

You could also set up a fun game where players have to try and shoot down moving targets made from cardboard boxes filled with different colors of splatter balls – it’s sure to be a hit at any party!

Gel Balls are also fun for toddlers with adult supervision as a sensory learning toy.

They can be used for maintaining moisture in soil for plant growth, as a fun alternative to traditional water balloons, or even to make art projects like creating splatter ball paintings. No matter how you choose to use them, splatter balls are sure to provide hours of fun!
